Google as an anchor point

It’s occurred to me that Google is my anchor point. If my web connection is behaving strangely, not finding the requested web server or the DNS server, my first reaction is to check Google. If Google is down my internet connection is down. That is how reliable I consider Google. The fact that it loads in the blink of an eye also helps.
