I’ve been meaning to ask this rhetorical question for a while <amateur psychology>When was the last time you rushed home or put aside some other activity to watch an episode of the Simpsons? When did you last see a Simpsons episode? When was the last time you saw a Simpsons episode which you hadn’t seen [...]

Russ and Karlin talk MMSRussell Beatie has an in-depth post on MMS whilst Karlin has an article in the Irish Times on the same subject (subscription required, but maybe she’ll post a copy on her site). I’m particularly struct by Russ’ description of the technical workings of MMS (of which I was only vaguely aware [...]

This made my day! I’m glad someone finds the logging api useful. One other feature I particulary like: I was involved in the expert group for JSR-47 (the logging api) and I pushed specifically for the static global logger. For the work I was doing at the time, it was important to be able to [...]

apple lock-in and other annoyancesThere’s much talk about Apple what with Steve Jobs’ keynote being online now. I like macs – they look good and function well. But I don’t use them, won’t buy them (and couldn’t if I wanted to). The problem with macs is not the individual products but the way they all [...]

Another wish come trueSome time ago I mentioned that it’d be great to produce diffs of an API rather than on a per-character or per-word basis. Well, that’s exactly what JDiff does. It acts as a javadoc plugin (so I guess Ant will make light work of it) and produces a HTML report of every [...]
