Great, now I can find more papers to add to the collection of ~750 which I’m currently trying to organise, annotate and reference.

  • This looks to be similar to the long-running CiteSeer (http://citeseer.nj.nec.com/), maybe with a cleaner UI and probably returning some different results. CiteSeer was evil when working on the literature review for my thesis. Evil I tellsya!

…posting “anonymously” since blogger doesn’t seem to understand the concept of people who might not be registered with them but not anonymous either. :)

  • yeah, except that citeseer is far better (decent list of citations on the same page, downloadable in various formats, bibtex ready for copy ‘n’ pasting, etc).

The great advantage of Google’s service is that the results are returned in a fraction of a second whereas you’re lucky to get a successful connection to citeseer — and then it takes forever to load.

  • Citeseer’s database has basically been frozen since it moved to psu.edu; document submissions and changes are apparently queued but none of my updates have ever been processed. djvu document format has also been removed.

I’m all for someone picking up where citeseer has left off.
