I’ve recently gone on a bit of a spending spree at eBay: Altan CD’s for £3-4 each, a 30GB laptop harddisk (£23), which I inserted into a slim portable harddisk case (£8), and a Palm Tungsten E (£55).

Altan CD are typically £9-14, a 30GB USB external harddrive would be £40-50, and the Palm T|E is selling for £150. What’s interesting about eBay isn’t just the low prices but also the range of products. The hard drive and Altan CDs were second hand, the drive case was a cheap Sony knock-off (complete with fake VAIO logo) and the Palm was a (perfect) reconditioned unit. The high street simply doesn’t sell this stuff.

And now there’s a .ie version too — not that some people would need any encouragment.
