Today we entered the ranks of the BBQ-owning suburbanites. Hilary has long wanted to dine ‘al-fresco’ and basically her life plans for us boiled down to: move to Ireland; get a job for me; rent a house; buy a BBQ. Anyway, we bought a cheap gas barbecue this evening and I succeeded in assembling it without blowing anything up and then proceeded to incinerate some kebabs and burgers. Hilary’s as happy as a pig in muck and I’m sure I’ll be BBQ’ing for visitors once I work out how to avoid carbonising everything.
