A bit harsh perhaps but that’s the nature of business. While we all can see the writing on the wall it’s hard to know what to “upskill” to. I’m in a similar situation (IT) with regards to future prospects, am willing to take courses, get another degree, whatever; yet there’s no clue out there of what to get into.

yeah, the pensions thing is screwed up and can be devastating for older employees… but I’m also working on the basis that my private pension will be worth nothing more than pocket change when it comes time for retirement.

hahaha! feckin class man. Very well said. On the pension side of things though you would have to feel a nugget of sympathy for them no?
