National Semiconductor have just announced a PDA they call “Origami”. Why? Because it folds and twists into a digital camera, video camcorder, smartphone, MP3 audio player, PDA, Internet access or Internet picture frame, email device or video conferencing terminal! Includes Bluetooth for connectivity to the wider world via GSM/2.5G/3G phones.
Looks cool although given this was announced at Comdex I doubt we’ll ever actually see it on the market :-( I’d prefer to see a device which you could assemble either using Bluetooth connections (so the screen, keyboard etc are not physically connected) or one that will snap together as simply as Lego (and in as many ways).
