Lessons from a life of startups, coding, countryside, and kids
Last week I started a discussion on JavaLobby about the new user interface on Office 12 (there’s more background and follow-up about Office 12 on this blog). Basically, Office 12 does away with menus and toolbars, and replaces them with a ribbon-thing which does the job of both. There are some interesting ideas behind this, and consequences from it, but I was wondering how this was going to affect Java applications and how someone might go about recreating the Office 12 look in Java. Kirill Grouchnikov comes to the rescue by demonstrating a working concept in Java (for 15hours work, it’s pretty good!).
